Safety Tips

During the month of October the Neptune Township Career and Volunteer Fire Department will be visiting 3,200 students throughout the Township of Neptune. The goal is to educate student’s grades kindergarden to 4th grade. The department believes the key to fire prevention is education. Parents and teachers will be urged to discuss fire prevention during this month:

Here are some tips:

  1. Properly store flammable materials.
  2. Keep matches and lighters out of reach of children.
  3. Discard faulty appliances.
  4. Don’t overload electrical outlets.
  5. Don’t store electrical cords under rugs.
  6. Create and practice an emergency escape plan with your family.
  7. Teach your children to remember their address.
  8. Let your children know who your friendly neighbors are.
  9. Safely practice STOP – DROP – ROLL with your children.
  10. Maintain your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
